CompTIA Network+ Certified!
I passed! As of August 31, 2021, I am CompTIA Network+ certified! I am pretty stoke about this accomplishment. The test was more difficult than I anticipated. Towards the end of the test I was fairly confident I had failed. While the Cyber Security Bootcamp at Springboard does cover a majority of the topics on the Net+, I still used additional study materials outside of my coursework. I studied the exam objectives, watched Professor Messer videos, utilized resources on Reddit, and watched various other YouTube videos.
Passing the Net+ exam is a huge relief. In my mind it validates my career pivot and months of hard work. While I have experience working with computers for my friends and family, this was a major challenge. At times it was frustrating and I thought maybe I should go back to selling food or restaurant management. I am glad I stuck with it. I know this will pay off for my family and I in the long run.
So what’s next?
The next step in my Cyber Security journey is to continue my side projects (Homelab, TryHackMe, HTB, etc.), pass my CompTIA Security+ by the end of September, and wrap up my classwork with Springboard by October 4th. I am optimistic that by the end of October I will be employed in the Cyber Security industry. Now that I have Net+ under my belt I will dedicate more time to my job search. I am looking at both local jobs in the Denver Metro and remote opportunities. I believe an in-person job will be best for me so I can absorb as much information as possible from co-workers.
But now it is time to relax and enjoy a beer. Cheers!
